Midseason 2003 Forecast Summary
Allright, since we are not racing for two weeks (Heat and NR2002) and it is around midseason, I felt like it would be a good time to reveal some of the new NHRL projects I have been working on to improve the NHRL for a bigger and better 2003 season. I was not in control of the NHRL for the start of 2002 and some of these ideas were too late to incorporate into the season that was allready started. Obviously there are a bunch of new things that I have thought of over the season.
NHRL 2003
-Site design changes. www.nascarheatracingleague.com, easier address to get to.
-Two main Heat divisions: Winston Cup and Busch.
Winston Cup would be like our races now. Busch Series would feature shorter races with less wear and expert mode. Winston Cup would feature the current race lengths with hardcore mode and 4x wear. The Cup road course races will be run on hardcore mode.
Personally I like the idea of two series very much. First of all, several drivers can pull "double duty" by running in both series at times. But I do not want just the same drivers in Busch and Cup. Just every now and then a couple moonshiners can show up in Busch races.
Not sure yet if Busch will run the same tracks as Winston Cup on the same weekends. Busch will run the roadcourses on normal mode.
The Busch Series is meant for the online racer who just wants to show up for a nice, shorter race without all of the activity of Winston Cup (practices, longer races, harder competition). That is why there is no practice for Busch. Just a fun race that someone can practice for in their own time and show up and have good fun. But there will be point standings for it so it will be a regular series and it will be competitive for sure.
-Friday night: Busch Series race / followed by Winston Cup practice (9 or 10pm ET Busch race start, 11pm ET cup practice starts)
-Saturday night: Winston Cup race (either 10pm ET or 11pm ET, not sure yet)
-New NHRL points system. Details will be revealed later. I think this is going to be one of the best improvements for next year! There will also be a few ways to recieve bonus'. Some are like the real WC points, some are extra ones of which I am thinking.
-A few events will be held at those tracks that we are having "off weekends" for this season. Probably some races at Pocono, Indy, Kansas, Chicago. This is a "maybe." I am not sure yet.
-A third, more comprehensive division of NASCAR Racing 2002 Season will feature a schedule close to that of Winston Cup. I would like to run NR2002 about the same time as we do now. Setups will likely be unrestricted.
-Plus "more" that I will think of / am currently hiding right now.
Thanks to all drivers so far for a great 2002 season so far. It is only going to get better from here on. Feel free to comment on this post. thx
