I apologize for the big one around lap 15. We all stayed in line so nice for 15 laps. Then, I got up out of the groove a little bit, and when the driver behind me put the car under there, I guess I shouldn't have raced, and just got in back of the line.

I do know that I let efgordon keep the bottom several times prior to that, and I saw some drivers in front of me do the same on a number of occasions.

yea, and thanks bov

when i'm just following like that every once in a while the line just slows out of nowhere, ya know, the accordion deal, and its just a natural reaction to go right to avoid it. it happend a couple of times any you let me right back in line.

i got caught up in a different big one anyway, so i was doomed either way.

seems those races are always like that until after the 1st stop.

I just wish no one wouldda really got racy until after the pit stops, Ya know? But, like I said, I take responsibility for that first big one. I shouldda just went to the back. I think Lepage got the very worst of that one out of all the peeps who got caught up in it, and I feel bad.

I also gotta thank D3 for drafting with me to help me gain two spots, and gotta apologize for him losing one spot at my expense.

(note: Wish you were on Ventrilo, Dan. {hint})

Big Apology

Post by WildFire »

Rookie and Tommy I'm really sorry that happened man. Rookie didn't mean to come down into you like that. I really thought I was clear. my big mistake. I was even on ventrillo so I would know about this kind of stuff wouldnt happen, so I would be clear in these kind of situations., and the dam thing didn't work during in the game. Couldn't hear anyone. Again Rookie and Tom Big time sorry.

na.... keep the win man!

na.... keep the win man!
one thing i've learned is.... accidents happen. it's good you're appologizing if you think you made a mistake. but, wins are so rare.... you need to take it and run!
I remember last season..... I beat TommyW at Michigan!!!
it was cool as heck!!! the only problem was this: i didn't realize we had to exit pit road on the apron all the way to the back stretch. TommyW's car was very close to mine.... maybe a little better. He would drive his a$$ off to catch me... then we would battle for a handful of laps.... then pit. I would always exit wrong.... and it would give me a huge lead (didn't even know i was doing it wrong).
to make a long story short---
-I won the race
-the records show me with a win
-the results show me the Michigan champ
-I get the bragging rights as "RACE WINNER" of michigan
-TommyW is not the winner
-Everyone thinks and believes that i beat TommyW
-TommyW gets nothing
-My car picture is on the "headlines" of the web-site

-but..... if you look real close.... I was docked 30 points for 3 illeagle pit road exits.... and actually had less points than the 3rd place car.

***but i took the WIN.... and RAN with it!!!!!

The problem with the "big one" in this race and the last big track race we had, everyone is going way too slow to try and save fuel, that's what's causing the accordian. The front cars go easy and the end cars get all the draft, so they either need to shoot out right or let off and get ran into. And god forbid someone actually follows a faster moving car to the outside when this happens, everyone is so afraid to make a move either because they don't want to get yelled at by admin's or they are just overly cautious. Well cautious causes wrecks most of the time.

If you need to go that slow to save fuel get out of the way for the people who want to race.

And for the cars who don't need to conserve, in case you didn't realize it, going slow keeps the pack bigger, because it keeps these slower cars with you.

The only time everyone should be cautious is the first 2 laps, after that if you need to like that, move over and let the others race who want to.

well i was not using any long fuel setup.

if the race was 50 laps i might have, but at 40, there was no need to because my oldest and fastest setup can make 20 easily if i run hard as i can every lap.

so i wasent conserving fuel i was just generally being carefull until after 1st pitstop.

I happend to practice alot yesterday and no matter how many times i tried, going to the outside and trying to make a run was meaningless. i couldent pass, nobody goes high to help, then you get caught outside and nobody lets you back in, so in the race, there is zero incentive to do anything except stay and line and wait out the pit stops to finally get to race

i dont think there is a solution, so i just have fun with it and go in to all big track races knowing that these things probably will happen and there is nothing i can do about it but survive.

if i dont, then i just take it all in stride and say things like "got a rope?" to my teamates just to upset rookie...

Needs a new post

Post by rookiesrock8 »

We should make a new post because Camry changed the subject. But as long as you brought it up Camry. You are imprecise in your "tips" for resrictor plate tracks. 1st of all the laps we were running were the fastest laps ever run in NHRL history (to the best of my knowledge). And as always in the draft, the leader is the ONLY ONLY ONLY one that has his pedal to the floor. Drafting someone doesnt make you faster than them just because you have throttle left. If you think your faster than jump high and talk some friends into it. Passes on the outside are very possible but I personally will only go up there with about 5 guys that I trust driving around. And since this was a 1 stop race I believe everyone was just riding along till after pitstops. That's usually when the real racing begins. Even in real cup.

P.S. Before next years restirictor plate tracks I will be posting a do's and don't's list for everyone. It's clear after last night that we all need some skill sharpening.

Heck, what are friends for....

WILDFIRE, YOU IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You asked for it, LMAO. Don't even really know what I am yelling at you for, but if it makes you feel better......

WF, don't be so hard on yourself buddy.

I am sure there were lots of others who got the "That was your best lap ever!" message last night. That 16 car pack was flat out flyin! So, I don't know what you are talking about with the fuel conservation thing cam. I used my bud shootout setup, wich is a very fast wirenuts setup, modified a bit by me.

I've come to the conclusion that I am just about as unlucky with restrictor plate tracks as Bobby Lebonte.

can i chime in again?? ...lol

Post by EagleKeeper »

ok.... i don't think anyone was sandbaggin it or saving gas @ Daytona.
here's what i think:
*due to all the teammates trading setups, and the simple fact that SuperSpeedways are easy to go fast at.... everyone's setup is about the same at these tracks now (DEGA and Tona). there's no dominant car/cars anymore.
*also..... plate racing sucks! no one can afford to lose the draft because if you do such a thing at a SuperSpeedway..... IT'S RACE OVER FOR YOU! this is why I hate Plate tracks.
*side by side racing is a ball..... and being that Daytona was the last Busch race of the season..... I wanted to have some fun. I decided to try to drive the high line. but no one would come up there. after jumping high 2-3 times with no-one joining me.... i tried to type for one of my teammates to move up high..... but, i forgot i can't type and drive..... so i walled my car.
*i was just looking for some fun.... and was bummed out after seing the 16 car "choo-choo-train" especially after i found myself as the "Kaboose"
lol

Re: can i chime in again?? ...lol

You said it Eagle, I can't type for nothing and drive either, especially at SuperSpeedways!! Wind up all over the place with doing that. Thats why I wanted to use Vent. But of course dummy me forgot that you have to change the config for each different mod you use it for. So it was still set for NH05 instead of for Reg. Heat. Now if I did use vent on a regular basis, it probably would be something that I would automatically do! lol

ha ha ha ha

i thought you were drunk again or something. i do remember you being on the high side and typing in a bunch of >>>>>

and i remember thinking to myself... "what the hell is eagle doing? did he hit the wrong buttons? are they pre prorgammed and he hit the wrong one? ha ha ha i assumed you ment to do <<<<<<<<<... ha ha ha

not to mention that one time, way late in the race, i saw you way up ahead and you appeared to be all alone, but typed in more >>>>>>>>>'s, thats when i figured "yep, eagles drinking tonight" lol

maybe ventrillo would be a good idea.

i am just a little skeptical and superstitious. The one and only time i ever used ventrillo was way back when i joined jospark's VTAB league, and it was right about that time that i had my infamous computer troubles, so i have never trusted ventrillo since. someone please tell me it was just a co-incidence and its safe to go back in the water! please

EagleKeeper

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by EagleKeeper »

lol......... i figured i probably looked like a drunk fool in that race. i was sober......... just driving like a fool.

i agree with you EF about ventrillo. i'm not sold on using it.... and it's because of a bad experience.
way back.... a couple years ago.... (back when there used to be a bunch of people just racing on IRF for fun) ... back b-4 leagues appeared in the heat sim world... i tried "Roger-Wilco" the problem i had back then was:
1- i had a crappy wheel and i couldn't program a "mic" button. i had to use my space bar as a mic button and that would cause me to wreck when i talked (just as typing and driving does)
2- i set my mic up to be "voice activated" ... but during the race i would either breathe hard and people would be asking who is running a "hot mic" (open mic).... or i would forget that it was "voice activated" and i would cuss up a storm when i made a mistake or if someone would piss me off. only to hear people asking: "who the hell was that?" or they would say: "does someone have Terrettes?"
3-and lastly... i would sometimes log into RogerWilco late.... only to hear a bunch of drivers talking sh!t about me.... and that would really tick me off

so now i race without voice.... and people probably think i'm a a$$ because i never type: "thankyou" or "your welcome" or "no problem"

*but maybe in 2006.... i will use ventrillo.

Re: LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by rookiesrock8 »

That explains what you were doing eagle. When you 1st went high and typed >>>>>>>, I was right behind you about to go under you and I thought to myself "whats this a$$hole doing?" Then I figured you were calling your teammates. lol.
About ventrillo: Ventrillo is way better than roger wilco and earlier versions of ventrillo itself. I wouldn't be skeptical. Come try it during practice and check it out. There is a channel for every type of racing and some rooms where peeps are playing games. You guys wouldn't have to be in a room with everybody in it during the race you can go to any room you want. There's even a profanity room that I like to hang out in. WARNING you will get booted from other rooms if you swear. Anyone that has it would help if you need.
