2 tires allowed off the course with part of 3 or more resulting in an instant penalty. This allows a driver to push his equipment/setup etc, while leaving the width of the car as a buffer. Similar to speeding on pitroad. the 5 mph is a buffer already in place.

I agree with Rook to a point. I agree that not being penalized for 2 tires off is a good thing, but that should in no way make a driver believe that running the entire race cutting/overshooting corners is acceptable. I'm not sure how Nascar handles this type of rule, but I do race other games that do not tolerate even an inch of tire off the track. Kinda difficult to call this one.

I went I'm not sure, but either 2 or 4. 2 allows some security when you might have blown a corner and are going to slide up off track a little that you know your not going to get a penalty. On the other hand 4 tires really had people being more cautious and some even picking up speeds. 2 also allows people to basically run on the grass and the curbing and be considered legal yet also a little more dangerous and I consider that a con.

I once brought this question up to a source I have who used to be on the NASCAR rules committee. His answer....."Thats something thats decided in the drivers meeting."....Does that clear it up for ya?...lol
