I'm sure most of you Windows XP users know what I'm talking about, and maybe some other operating systems too, I don't know. But if you want to get rid of the Windows Messenger Pop-ups, follow these simple instructions. These are for Windows XP, but probably similar to other OS's if needed:
1. Click "Start", then "Control Panel"
2. a) If in Classic view, double-click "Administrative Tools"
b) If in Category view, click "Performance and Maintenance," then "Administrative Tools"
3. Double-click "Services"
4. Scroll down list that appears and double-click "Messenger"
5. Click "Stop" button to turn off service, then select "Disabled" in the "Startup Type" drop-down box
Enabling a firewall will also usually stop the messages, but that only blocks them, where the above method actually turns the service off. However, I recommend a firewall anyway for security, but it must be disabled when hosting races. Hope this helps.
