Recently I aquired some nasty ass spyware on the ol pc. It shows itself as Spyaxe among other things, and is grouped as Smitfraud. The main issue with it is it generates popups at the rate of 1 every 5 secs or so, hijacks your browser, and puts annoying little ballons on your tool bar that you cant get rid of. If you guys ever get this, I have found a removal tool that gets the job done PDQ!
Go here and download the "Generic Smitfraud Removal Tool" This will take care of it.

Re: Nasty ass spyware removal
Also install Spybot Search and Destroy www.download.com/Spybot-S...ag=lst-0-1
Use the Interent Explorer Immunization. This is supposed to prevent those nasties from downloading into your pc. If you do have spyware, this will also remove it.
Did you know Windows has spyware, and it can be removed without affecting the performance of Windows.

i went and downloaded what reef was talking about last night....and it tore my puter all up ....deleted all kinds of windows stuff....nothing would show up anymore ....no icons nothing....so i took it in to get fixed ...it said it was missing winnet dll. file...then had to reinstall windows ....not a good thing just alot of money
Re: Nasty ass spyware removal
I hope u read the entire post and not just downloaded the file. At the very top of the page in big bold letters it talked about that very thing with the wininet.dll file
Quoted from the post:
"IMPORTANT NOTE:
Since this tool renames the wininet.dll it could be possible that on some pc´s a reboot doesn´t work cause of a missing wininet.dll.
I suggest therefor to grab this patch from microsoft and to install it prior the reboot: www.microsoft.com/technet...-025.mspx"
Sorry it screwed up ur pc man. I was just tryin to pass along what worked for me.
My other toy has tits.
