<FONT FACE="Verdana,Arial" SIZE=2>Teammates will obviously encounter opportunities to help one another during the 2006 season, especially at draft tracks like Daytona and Talladega. I do not personally believe that a group of teammates are breaking any rules by doing something like minding their own business but constantly running the low line. However, I do believe there are certain criteria that are surpassed when the team stuff goes too far. Should the league penalize drivers for extreme and blatant anti-competitive behavior on the race track? yes, admins gotta use best judgement but blatant foolishness on the track to help a teamate i.e, blocking to the point of everyone knows your not attempting to hold YOUR OWN position and creating a hazard, should be frowned upon. This could be the kind of sillyness that would have teams dissolved real quick next year.
Doesnt imply the usual pulling over to let 'em by, slowing to help 'em draft, etc. And, I may add, a little blocking to let a teamate catch up, if done right, would be legal in my opinion.
You've got to keep the attitude that it will be YOU at the top of the heap next year without the blatant help of a teamate.

OK, here are my thoughts on the matter.
I want everyone to know that these are my thughts only (as a driver) and do not express the thoughts and opinions of the league and/or it's officals.
First off something needs to be said about the incident that lead up to this being an issue. I think by now everyone knows what transpired in the Daytona Busch race. I've viewed the replay several times. I've looked over the rules page several times. Granted what Wildfire did wasn't a good decision on his part. Fact is, he didn't brake any rules. So my biggest question (as a driver) is, how can someone get penalized for braking a rule that doesn't exist? But that's in the past now. which leads us to where we are now...
Before I would vote yes on this matter, I would need a definite defintion for "extreme and blatant anti-competitive behavior on the race track". This could mean anything. This would need to be a black and white rule. I see a HUGE gray area here. If you try to define it there is always going to be loopholes that will be challenged, causing even more contraversy. If you leave it open ended without a definate definition, your saying if you see something you didn't like you'll penalize us for it. Or basicly making up rules as we go. I don't think anyone would be too receptive of that.
Personaly I don't see a real need to even try to define such a rule.This is a gentlemen's league made up of quality drivers and quality people. I believe a simple request for common sense and common courtesy is all that's really needed. Think about it. We've had teams in this league for the past 3 or more years, (BBFF, TTR...) and there has always been guys practicing together and trying to work together during races. It has never been a problem in the past. If anything I believe this single incident will cause drivers to make more conscious decisions on the track.

what happened?
i guess i'm one of the dudes that doesn't know what happened in the busch daytona race.
all i remember about that race is i was a fool and walled myself twice trying to "slingshot" past drivers on the highline entering turn 3.
i don't know what happened up front.... although i did notice someone was stripped of their win.
maybe someone should explain.
also..... can i say 2 things? ok i will:
(1) i hear we can't use custom car paints in the busch series next year. can we have a poll on this please? cuz.... we all love our custom paints.
(2) if we must use in-game cars for busch.... will we have assigned cars? or will we be able to pick a different car each event as we please? i think it would be cool to pick a different car each time..... but.... the great thing about custom cars are the fact that..... even if you are a lap or two down..... and you see the #71 and #12 comming up behind ya.... you know that they are probably the leaders.... and you know to give room. but... if you don't recognize the cars in the mirror and can't put them with a name..... you may not move over as quickly and this may cause accidents.
just a thought.

--we begin the busch season with an in-game car paint.... and we are allowed only 1 custom paint..... but it needs to be the same number as your chosen in-game car number?

um..... can we use this as an example of why custom cars are necessary? 3 peeps want the #39 and i'm sure there will be a line of peeps wanting the #8 and #81. i remember in Dooloks league..... (we ran in game cars at first) and everyone wanted the #8 Bud car. i wanted the Jeff Burton #99 car..... but someone already had it. so i took the #18. then changed to the #17. then i joined NHRL and Fred was driving the #17..... so then i changed to the #93.

There will be no custom cars for the first season with the NBS mod. KTIN and I spent a lot of time painting all of these cars and we would like the enjoy them on the race track for a whole season.

If there are going to be more rules than GOD has money, then let's unrestict them. You can't restrict the already extreme focus of running a restrictor plate race. I happen to be in the BGN daytona maylay. And if all we had to go on were replays then it would have been very hard if not impossible to tell what happened (thin server).
I will take a wait and see approach to what kind of rules we're talking about. Anything that benifits a good fun racing experience.
And what's all this talk about team order's and such? I have been apart of a team since I've been racing and have never heard it being done. This team thing is way overrated because there comes a time while racing that winning over everything should be your priority. If not you shouldn't be racing.

intentionally blocking for teamates? i would think that should be dealt with like any other intentional blocking incident. i cant even remember the last time it was a problem in this league, but if it pops up because of the "team" thing, then sure, at some point you officials will have to make an example of someone and penalize them.
unnecessarily dropping out of a pack to draft with teamates? hmmm i dont see a problem with it at all. I would think its a much better idea than just trying to slow down the guy behind ya....
btw- that woulda FIXED that problem we had at tona. had the driver just got out the way and gone back to pick up teamates about 5 or 6 cars woulda been better off.
at the end of the day, i dont see how its fair to penalize a driver for any wacky or unnecessary driving STRATEGIES designed for himself or the team purposes as long as they dont get in the way of anyone elses.
