KillerBee17 to drive Mark Martin Throwback #60
On Monday July 24th at a suprise FTM press conference, it was announced that KillerBee17 will drive a #60 Winn-Dixie car painted like the one that Mark Martin drove and dominated with in the NBS. This car, like the Wal-mart car, was painted in house at FTM by HBMan23. He will run this paint scheme on and off in the Cup Series for the rest of 2006 to commemorate the retirement of Mark Martin and to honor Mark and his many achievements throughout his career. Winn-Dixie has approved this deal, saying that "...right now, we'll take any sponsorship airtime we can get. A deal with a quality team like FTM and the reason for it just made us want to get even more involved." Killerbee17 had this to say:"I am really honored to be able to drive a car painted like the(#60) car Mark made famous. It's like driving a time machine. I remember watching him from the stands at Darlington. He was a hero to me and this is just my way of giving back just a little." FTM also announced that KillerBee17 will be in the #60 car in 2007 FULLTIME. He has signed a 1 year contract extention with FTM, solidifying his future next year. However, no sponsor has been signed for the #60 car for next year. It has been rumored that either Verizon Wireless or Coca Cola will be the primary sponsor on the car next year. FTM has seen alot of improvment in the past few weeks and they look to become a force to be reckoned with. -ap
