Final Version of car for NHRL Cup Mod

Post by bover907 »

Guys, here's the final version of the car. I am finally done tweaking and massaging on it. Now, I can finally start the damage model. That's the last thing to do before releasing a beta and templates. Also, notice the new custom tire. This was made the other night by 2Quick4U and myself.

Good Job Bov, when do you think you'll have the template and beta version done?

Who knows, dude. It all depends how many difficulties I run into making the damage model. This being my first mod, I have no idea how long that takes or how many difficulties that will entail. Hopefully it won't be long.

I don't really know what you mean by that, Dan.

As far as how to make it, I know in theory how to do it. Just gotta hope it goes smooth.

It entails making the car into the twelve correct pieces, cloning each of those pieces like 3-6 times each, which gives you some 60 different parts, and all has to stay below the correct polygon count. (That's all, lmao).

All the damage model is, is the graphical representation of the damage on the car as seen in game. (All the dents, and missing parts you see). As far as how your car sustains damage from hitting what, how hard, That's all encoded in the game.

The pics look great bov.. On the damage model, are you going to be using "vertex damage" or are you gonna try creating one of your own?

Vertex Damage can be turned on in any car. Even the originals. As my car stands now, if you turn on vertex damage, it'll get all dented up. Sometimes it looks funny. The downside to vertex damage is that it can be taxing on the computer.

I am going to make a damage model from scratch.
