spotter in game error

Post by SpeedyExiter »

The CTS mod we use, uses the race.res file from the original Nascar Heat game, located in the "Run" folder. When racing, I hear the spotter say " One to go, next time by" when there are 4 or 5 laps remaining . I got tired of hearing this
so I cracked open the race.res file and chnged all the files ending in ".sfx" to ".raw" so that my Audio converter/editor could play them. The file "2togo.sfx" is the file that is in error. Here it is in a .wav file so you can hear it.
Well , apparently, this forum will not let me attach a .wav file so i will send it as a .avi file
2togo.avi

.when you look at it physically the file on a waveform is seperated the first part at the beginning says "2 to go" then u hear 15-20 seconds later "One to go , next time by".I know that you can hear this normallywhen ther are 2 laps to go, but with 4 or 5 still to go (im not quite sure which)you ONLY hear the ending of this file "ONE TO GO,NEXT TIME BY". any thoughts on what to do with this? Would removing the file from the race.res cause a problem?or removing just the last part of it with an audio editor.? Come on you wizards , which is it? Noone else has heard this ?or all of you have changed your spotter sounds to newer versions ?

When the spotter says "2 to go", it is the leader he's talking about at that moment. If the leaders pit and you gain the time they're in the pits then it will correct itself lap by lap. Isn't that the way it is working? I know the spotter ain't 4 or 5 laps off.

I have noticed that there is an issue with the CTS mod & spotters in regards to the "2 laps to go" statement... I have used many spotters (currently using the spotter from CotPlatinum which will also say 2 to go randomly towards the end of the race every lap regardless of where I or the leaders are during the race..

Guys, lets not tell people to crack res files and change stuff that we don't know for sure if it's broke.

I never noticed anything wrong. If the spotter in the mod was wrong, it would have been documented long ago I'd think.

Like rookie said, if the leader has two to go, and you are three laps down, when the leader crosses the line, you'll hear "2 to go!" even though your race info says you have 5 to go. The spotter is right, because the race will still actually end when you cross the line in 2 more laps.

Ok , let me explain this once more. Its not the spotter saying anything in error about "2 to go" its the spotter saying "One to go,next time by". when theres more than one to go,next time by for everyone! When i am offline and in lead the spotter states "one to go,next time by" approximately 8 seconds after he says ""5 to go"!!!!!!See new post Entitled....Resolving spotter error >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> It is in fact an error not my imagination or me hearing the leaders spotter! The cts mod does not have its own race.resn file. it uses the race.res from the original game that resides in the Nascar Heat "Run" folder!

Ok, I figured out your problem to a point. You don't have the original heat spotter in there, you have the Jimmie Johnson pack that I have. The original spotter is Richard Petty. It's sumthin in that pack that repeats itself. I just ignore, or look at lap counter.

If ya want the orig one let me know.
