2012 Team Competition

For the 2012 CUP and NBS seasons, we're exploring some possibilities with respect to team competition. We'd like to know if a team championship, one possibly covering both series (CUP and NBS), might be of interest to anyone. We've briefly tried doing a team standings in the past, but this would have some key differences, encourage good banter, and be more official.

We'd like to hear any ideas or comments that anyone might have.

Would need to have a way for 2 man teams to compete.
1. Top 2 Team member's points from each round are taken
2. Average of all drivers taken.
I prefer one because then 5 man teams are not at a disadvantage.

yep thats why you must average it or take top 2 finishers. Otherwise just limit to 3 man teams and we will enter 2 squads per team

How about, teams must have minimum of two, but not more than 4 or 5 drivers, and just take average team finish, and assign a points system to that.

Max of 5 drivers, best 2 per each round score points for the championship.

Do any teams have 5 members? I'm just double checking on this. If we do a team competition next year, we'd likely limit teams to 4 drivers. As far as the format, there's a lot of possibilities, so we'll be doing some R & D as the season approaches.

LLM will have 5 drivers.
Me, bmx, rick (if not rick we have another person lined up), trev, patch.

TheTrev isn't a league member. He may already be on LLM, but he's not in NHRL yet. The team limit would be specific to our league. Obviously, a team can claim as many members as it wants outside of it.

Ok, well if you do top x amount of drivers per team score towards team points per race, it wouldnt matter how many drivers a team has.

Actually it would. Lets say top three drivers in a team get points toward a team championship, a team with six members would have a great chance to have a higher finishing position compared to a team with 4 drivers.

aka a team with 5 or 6 drivers will have more mulligans for a specific race, which is why a cap would be reasonable.

if so you can have more than one team to allow all your drivers and have two teams under the same banner so to speak

Yes, NASCAR has a 4 car limit with a 5th part-time car allowed.

This is what my old team with doZer did, "Cutting Edge Motorsports". We had 4 drivers in NHRL and wanted to add a couple "Development Drivers" so we started another team called "Cutting Edge Racing" lol.

the league races here been close to real racing as it can get im up for doing it just the same way nascasr cup dose it .
but here my question is the member list during the season race going to big to have that many people or will it have to be cut in hafe
and and how many people to will make to a team list to make it even because say u got 4 on one team and the other teams got 3 would that put the team with most people on top of the points all the time i would think there would hafe to be a boundary set to make the team evens or some kinda rule on it
