Caution- & Pitting-Related Penalties

Post by lepage71 »

We're reviewing our general enforcement of caution- and pitting-related penalties.

Beginning in the 2018-19 season, we might start assessing more drive-though and stop-and-go types of measures for certain infractions, since our rules are already lenient and the consequences for sloppiness have been pretty minimal. We feel a shift in enforcement will provide a more realistic and interesting balance to the ebb and flow of race conditions. So be warned! However, no actual rules are changing, except for V-A 4.

On that note, please take care to review the alterations to rule V-A 4. Most of it remains the same. I've underlined the new portion of the rule:
V-A 4. Do not needlessly cut through other pit stalls when entering and exiting your own pit stall. The league administrators recognize that completely missing the pit stalls immediately in front of and behind your own pit stall can be challenging and that heavy traffic, awkward positioning, and incoming cars can frequently add further complication to the pitting process. As a result, every driver is granted some leniency given the situation. In most cases, a competitor should never have to cut through more than three pit stalls to enter or exit their own pit stall. Additionally, drivers should attempt to pit squarely, avoiding stopping excessively long, short, or outside of their stall.
Overall, the shift here isn't that radical. Just pay an incremental bit more attention to your pitting. Let us know if you have any questions. :?
