Requirement for all CTS drivers

Post by rookiesrock8 »

Due to the large Craftsman Truck Series roster size entering the 2006 season, the league needs to see how the server will react with many drivers in a race. We cannot just jump into the first event at Daytona with no idea what the server will do. We originally wanted to hold the roster size at 22 but we made concessions by adding several more drivers that we felt were quality additions. We do not want to be caught in a situation where this generosity results in a lot of disappointment over server issues at the beginning of the season. If everyone knows what to expect at Daytona, then things will start much more smoothly.

Therefore, there will be two required server tests. The first one is on Sunday, February 5th at 9:00pm ET and the second is on Sunday, February 12th at 9:00pm ET. The tests will be relatively brief and everyone can practice, race, leave, or do whatever they want afterwards. We just need a short period of time with everyone in the server to test the starting grid, assess the connection qualities, check out the level of warp, see which drivers in particular have junky connections, etc. Please be patient because we would like to try a variety of things in the server.

Please connect to the server with the IP Address (69.171.206.254) and selecting the ISDN option. Also check the forum in case the IP changes or to see if there is some other announcement. Everyone should close all background programs, disconnect other computers from their networks, or do whatever you usually do on race nights to ensure a good connection.

If you will not be home during these required tests, then you must treat it like a regular race and inform the league of the absence.

The bottom line is that we would like to have a full field of trucks for each and every race but if the server misbehaves there is a chance we will use qualifying to limit the field to 22, 20, 18, 16, or whatever number seems to work. Thanks for understanding, and please try to attend these tests. If we do not get a full field to show up for these tests, and a full field shows up for Daytona, then we will not expect to hear complaints if the server is not perfect!
