Restarting the Race

Post by lepage71 »

After some confusion at the NBS Michigan event, I want to clarify the rule about restarts. First, on lap 1, a driver requested a restart due to an accident; under no circumstances will we restart the server for crashes. We used to restart the server for accidents, but the old "three restart" rule is gone and likely permanently removed (restarts have not really been an issue during the 2007 season). Secondly, one lap following the crash on lap 1, some drivers then requested a restart for starting grid problems. Obviously, since a substantial accident occured in between the start and the restart request for grid problems, we could not restart the race in any fair manner. No one typed anything about grid problems until after the accident; although this is somewhat suspicious, we are not doubting that the grid was problematic.

We would have gladly restarted the server had someone typed "restart" or "rs" when the grid was taking off, but no one typed anything. We try to see what's going on with the grid, but the administrators can only see so much at once This is taken from the rules page:
5. The NASCAR Heat Racing League does not restart events for accidents. League members who crash and then demand a restart can expect penalties. However, drivers may request restarts for starting grid problems; bad alignment, uneven speed, and random damage issues are all legitimate requests. During league events, only the administrators may operate the server; drivers taking matters into their own hands and entering commands are subject to league discipline.
Please let us know if there are any additional questions.
